RYDER QUINN will return for a second Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Australia Championship Season with fresh motivation and preparation ahead of a big year.
The Queensland-based driver has unveiled a bold new Game Over livery on his McElrea Racing-run Type 992 GT3 Cup Car during pre-season testing at Queensland Raceway.
“In my opinion, the Porsche Carrera Cup Championship is the pinnacle of Motorsport in Australia. It brings in a multitude of extremely talented drivers and teams from Supercars and abroad,” Quinn said.
“My rookie season, last year, was an extremely difficult season for me. Challenges such as missing a round due to damage, limited time in the car, made it difficult to generate the momentum needed to push on and fight. This year, I am looking forward to getting a full testing schedule under my belt and hitting the ground running.”
An up-and-down rookie year saw the Michelin Junior finish 16th in the championship, though a tough start to the season was turned around with a strong finish.
His first top-10 race finish came at Sandown and from there the third-generation Quinn to compete in Carrera Cup finished the year with six top-1o finishes from the last 9 races, including a personal best result of fifth in race two in Adelaide.
Quinn will be eligible once again for the Michelin Junior program this year.
The opening Carrera Cup round of the year will be at the traditional Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix
