Shane Smollen will join the Porsche Wilson Security Carrera Cup Australia grid for this weekend’s Joint Round at Sydney Motorsport Park.
The 2015 TAG Heuer Pro-Am champion will step into the #5 Wall Racing 911 GT3 Cup while Greg Taylor is absent due to business commitments.
Smollen has a wealth of Carrera Cup experience, starting 46 rounds and 127 races ahead of his Sydney return. From his time in the championship, he has claimed eight Pro-Am round wins and 30 Pro-Am race wins.
Smollen is also no stranger to Wall Racing, having partnered with David Wall in the two-driver Pro-Am event last year at Phillip Island, where the duo took overall round victory.
The Sydneysider has also contested both previous Joint Rounds, racing in Sepang last season for a one-off return to the series.
“We are pleased that Shane was able to step in for the weekend to cover Greg. He is a great person to have around the garage and hopefully can get a great result over the weekend in the Tag Heuer Pro-AM class for Wall Racing”, said Wall Racing Team Manager, David Fyfe.
The Porsche Wilson Security Carrera Cup Australia championship hits to track this Friday and Saturday for the two-day Sydney SuperNight event, where the Australian series will be joined at the event by sister series Porsche Carrera Cup Asia.
